Want to go deeper? How to Solve the Takes Puzzle

Rules
  • Every move must be a capture.
  • The King cannot be captured.
  • Sliding pieces are blocked by other pieces.
  • Pawns capture diagonally in all 4 directions.
  • Win by leaving only the King.

How to Play

1

Study the board

All enemy pieces are laid out on a 4Γ—4 grid. Every piece must be captured β€” none can be left standing.

2

Pick your first capture

Click any piece that can be legally captured by your attacker. The attacker moves to that square.

3

Chain your captures

After each capture your attacker must immediately take another piece. You cannot stop mid-chain.

4

Order matters

One specific capture order clears the board. If you get stuck, undo and try a different sequence.
